BERGEN CATHOLIC OUTLASTS DON BOSCO PREP 67-62!

Ramsey, N.J…… Fairfield commit Taj Benning and Columbia commit Gabe Stefanini led Bergen Catholic to a toIMG_2253ugh, bruising win over Don Bosco Prep 67-62!

Benning(pictured) led B.C. with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Stefanini added 15 points, 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists himself as they had to with stand the 25 point, 11 rebound effort from Don Bosco Prep’s Junior Marcellus Earlington! The game stayed close throughout and went into the 4th quarter with Bergen holding a 50-48 lead! Earlington’s putback tied the game at 50 early in the last quarter! It got even more interesting as each team answered the other down the stretch! Two buckets from Sophomore Zach Fremantle around two buckets from Senior Charlie Bagin made the score 61-59 B.C.! Freshman Matt Zona’s two free throws made the score 63-60, but Earlington’s putback cut the lead to 63-62 with 12 seconds left! Benning and Stefanini iced it with 2 free throws apiece for the final score! Sophomore Doug Edert was a huge contributor for Bergen Catholic as he finished with 11 points, oncluding 2″triples”! and Senior Thomas Benelli added 8 points! Junior Ron Harper scored 16 points for Don Bosco Prep and Senior Manley Dorme was a factor on the glass with 12 rebounds!
