037Here are more player evaluations from Garden State Showcase at Kennedy H.S. on Saturday!

JEVON RAWLS–KENNEDY: Jevon Rawls is an athlete. One of the best around. Despite his 5’9 height he can get to the cup and above the rim and has very good elevation on his jump shot. His quickness allows him to get pass people and he is not afraid to challenge big men. His quickness also allows him to be a ball hawk on defense which he showed stripping his opponents on several occasions! All Rawls needs is the right situation!

AHMED BAILEY–HACKENSACK: If you didn’t know Ahmed was one of the younger players at the event, you would have thought he was a veteran. Bailey can play and he did everything on the court to prove it. He has a great ability to find space to make shots and proved if you get too close he can go right by you. His maturity on the court was evident and it is a matter of time before schools reach out to him.

AALIM JONES–KENNEDY: Jones was probably the purest point guard in the event, as he has the ability to run an offense. Aalim has basketball savvy and sees the game a play ahead as his slick passes will attest. Can really penetrate and get people open shots. Also a sneaky defender who can harass from end line to end line! True point guards make their teammates better and Jones did a great job at doing that!

JOHN BEJAR—UNION CITY H.S.:  John Bejar showed the ability to shoot the ball. He is a strong kid who showed that he can get to the cup. Heady player who does not waste dribbles as he finds people at the right time. He showed fearlessness by going up against bigger players to pull down rebounds and had a penchant for knocking down clutch shots. Does not lack confidence.

MALIK WILCHER–HAMMOND H.S.: Malik travelled the furthest coming from Laurel, Maryland and he brought his ga040me with him. Wilcher has a great body and was able to score down low at will. Can put it on the floor and knock down shots consistently. His defense impressed as he blocked a number of shots and made people think when coming to the hole. This from a 6’2 guard! Very good athlete who will help a lot of teams on the Collegiate level. There is a place for Wilcher.

RAEKWON ALEXANDER–KENNEDY:  Ray is a multi talented player who played out of position for his highschool but proved038 he can do more by putting the ball on the floor and consistently knocking down shots! His strength is his defense, as he is tenacious on that end of the floor. A great nose for the ball, he has an uncanny knack of picking up loose balls and turning a negative play into a positive.
