HACKENSACK PRESENTS: MEL HENDERSON MEMORIAL SHOWCASE!

IMG_29491  On January 9th, 2016 Hackensack Highschool will honor the late great legendary Head Coach Mel Henderson who passed away in 2012 at the age of 74, by having a six game Highschool Basketball Showcase! Coach Henderson was an impactful figure in the Hackensack sports scene! He Coached the Comets for 13 seasons beginning in 1975 and in the process won three Bergen County Jamboree titles! He was a mentor to many of the best players to come out of Hackensack and built them up not only on the basketball court, but in dealing with social aspects that were so prevalent in that time period! Coach Henderson was a Principal at Dwight Morrow H.S. in Englewood and  became a Councilman in Teaneck which made him an influential figure in Bergen County, primarily to minorities! Hackensack, led by their Coach Aaron Taylor decided to honor him in the most appropriate way! By playing ball! The six game contests will start at 11am!

5:00pm   HACKENSACK  VS  UNIVERSITY

6:30pm    DON BOSCO PREP   VS  POPE JOHN XXIII REGIONAL
