Paterson……………..The hard nosed play of DePaul’s Davon Jacobs has resulted in a scholarship to Rutgers for football! Jacobs, who’s known for his non stop play on the basketball court took that trait to the football field and his all-state play gave him the opportunity to verbal to the State University! Jacobs still has a year left of highschool football! Hoops Journal would like to congratulate Davon and his family for a job well done!

Newark Eastside, Columbia, Nia Prep And Hudson Catholic Advance In “Just June”!

Paterson…….. The Just June tournament got it’s semi finalist yesterday as Newark Eastside, Columbia, Nia Prep and Hudson Catholic all moved on in hot quarterfinals action! Newark Eastside beat Englewood 42-34! Columbia snuck past Hackensack 36-35 in a barn burner! Nia Prep fought off a tough Teaneck squad 42-36, while Hudson Catholic overcame a 12 point deficit to beat Paterson Eastside 43-40! The semifinals will be played Thursday at Roberto Clemente with the finals right after! 

 

4:30pm     #2 Hudson Catholic  vs #3 Columbia

 

5:30pm     #4 Nia Prep   vs.  #1  Newark Eastside

 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP :   7: 15pm!

Just June Playoffs Begin!

Paterson…….. The Playaz Club and Paterson Recreation sponsored” Just June” basketball tournament for highschool teams concludes this week with it’s playoffs tuesday with quarterfinals action and thursday with semifinals and finals! The league showcased 9 teams with Paterson Eastside, Hudson Catholic, Teaneck, Newark Eastside, Columbia, Hackensack, Nia Prep, Englewood and East Orange all participating! The first 8 made the playoffs as the action has been tough and each team has been preparing for the season with a mixture of veteran players and incoming freshman! Newark Eastside finished as the #1 seed for the playoffs!

Tuesday Playoff Schedule @ Roberto Clemente School:

4;00 pm      #1 Newark Eastside  vs    #8 Englewood

5:00pm      # 3 Columbia   vs  #6  Hackensack

6:00pm      #4 Teaneck  vs  #5 Nia Prep

7:00pm     #2  Hudson Catholic  vs  #7 Eastside

The winners play Thursday! Come catch the action!
