DePaul Shocks Passaic Valley 75-58!

Written by Cameron on . Posted in Garden State Hoops

Little Falls……….It was Senior Night for Passaic Valley and DePaul was playing without the services of Sophomore guard Josh Marquez, so it seemed to be a perfect setup for the Hornets! Instead, DePaul came out from the start and played one of the best first halves of the season! Junior Mas Aronson got them rolling by draining a”triple”early in the game and Junior Davon Jacobs(right) joined in by creating shots inside! Freshman Kiy Hester did a good job running the show for Depaul in place of Marquez and Sophomore Sanders Green and Freshman Juwann Carter each played strong games! DePaul shot 60% in the 1st half and took a 47-28 lead! Passaic Valley tried to get in the game as Senior Dave Clough and Junior Olumide Onajide were the keys to the attempted run! The closest they could get was 11 but Aronson knocked down a runner to take the life out of any comeback! Jacobs finished with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 breakaway dunks! Aronson had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals! Green had 13 points and 8 boards, while Carter scored 11 points with 2 steals! Hester had 6 dimes to go with his 8 points! Clough led  P.V. with 20 points and Onajide finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds!

Paterson………In a preview to Saturday’s Passaic County Tournament final, Eastside topped Kennedy 71-60! Even though both teams competed, you could feel less sense of urgency from the teams that will be expected this weekend! Eastside dominated the game from the start, taking a 20 point lead into the half 39-19! Senior Ky’re Jackson(right) led the Ghosts with 20 points and 8 rebounds! Junior DeAndre Noble chipped in 13 points and grabbed 9 boards and Senior David Burgos added 11 points and dished out 7 dimes! Senior Najee Seabrooks had 11 points and 7 rebounds and made the play of the game by throwing the ball off the glass and slamming it home for the exclamation point! Kennedy made a run in the 2nd half behind Junior Sammy Singletary who scored 25 points and Senior Jhamir White who scored 13 points! when the Knights tried to make their run Eastside handed to their point guard Burgos and he took care of the rest! Eastside has now won two straight this season against Kennedy, so it’s a matter of can Kennedy figure something out before Saturday!
