PATERSON CHALLENGE/ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT: PLAYAZ GREY DEFEATS N.J. PIRATES FOR “CHIP”!

The Playaz sponsored Paterson challenge Round Robin Tournament saw a tremendous Championship game between the Playaz Grey and New Jersey Pirates!

The Playaz trailed for most of the contest and fell behind by as much as 13 before making a frantic comeback and pull off a 73-71 win! Ashton Miller’s “triple” tied the score at 71 and after a steal by Nicholas Jourdain, Jaylen Colon made a floater in the lane with 7 seconds left to give the Playaz the victory! Toren Portee(left)  who was the Player of the Game scored 22 points to lead the Playaz, who had to overcome a 30 point effort from TyJon Huntley(right) who was the Sportsman of the Game! The Playaz reached the “chip” by defeating the New Jersey Jayhawks as Eric Fleming scored 19 points and Colon added 9 dimes! The Pirates reached the title game by beating the New Jersey Crusaders as Huntley scored 22 points and Ky-yon Chapman scored 12 points with 15 rebounds! The consolation game saw the Crusaders defeat the Jayhawks 59-51 as Nasheem Hart(bottom pic, right) scored 22 points! Matt Monteverde(bottom left) led the Jayhawks with 11 points!

 

 

The Playaz Grey squad has a lot of talent and should be a team to be reckoned with on the AAU circuit! The Team consists of Jaylen Colon, Toren Portee, Eric Fleming, Ashton Miller, Bryan Henderson Jr, Kirk Parsons, John Sprofera, Liam Gunnarsson, Josh Wright and an injured Gemir Robinson!
