ARMONI SEXTON ALLSTAR CLASSIC IS A CELEBRATION!

Eastside H.S., Paterson,N.J…….. The Armoni Sexton AllStar game sponsored by Relativity Basketball and spearheaded by their Director Sam White brought out the best in Paterson as Armoni’s life for this day was celebrated, not mourned! Important Paterson dignitaries came out to show their support led by Assemblyman Benji Wimberly and WNBA star Essence Carson! Their was entertainment with rappers and dancers and the mood was festive! Two games played by Grammar school players and Highschool players brought relief and at the same time showcased some very good talent! In the Grammar School game the Gray team behind the play of Muhammad Norris defeated the Red team 58-43! The Red got a tremendous performance from Toknowa Thomas as each was voted MVP for their prospective squads! The Highschool game brought out some of the better talent in the State as the Red team held on for a 98-96 win over the Gray team! The Red team was led by Co-MVP’s James Scott from Pope John with 21 points and Teaneck’s Ja’Quaye James who knocked down 7″triples” on his way to 27 points! The Gray team was led by the Eastside duo of Asem Johnson and Shakur Juiston with Johnson scoring on an assortment of dunks and finishing with 24 points and Juiston adding 17 points and 8 rebounds(pictured with Essence Carson right)! While the games were fun and exciting for all that attended their was constant messages of less gun violence and peace in the communities through speeches during the event! All proceeds went to the Sexton family and Armoni’s mother Lawanda seemed overwhelmed by the show of support that she was given! Relativity Basketball will try to make this an annual event that will create a foundation in Armoni Sexton’s name! Acknowledgement has to go out to Team Hope, Paterson Recreation, The Playaz Basketball Club and PWC AAU Club for helping to create a positive image for the youth of the City and coming together for one common cause! The celebration of a life gone too soon, Armoni Sexton!!
