COACHES VS CANCER EVENT: KENNEDY, PARAMUS CATHOLIC, ST.JOSEPH REGIONAL, PASSAIC VALLEY, PASCACK HILLS AND LAKELAND GET VICTORIES!

  Kennedy HS Paterson, NJ……The third day of the Coaches vs Cancer Event ran by Coach Jim Ring  concluded with six more games for Sunday! Kennedy, St. Joseph Regional, Passaic Valley, Paramus Catholic, Pascack Hills and Lakeland all picked up wins!006

 

 

 

                                                               KENNEDY  55                     HACKENSACK  45

It took Sophomore Alphonso Gee an injury to stop him! Gee scored 23 points in Kennedy’s 55-45 win over Hackensack, but it was marred late in the game by Gee getting hit by a defender on a layup, falling on his face and requiring stitches to the top of his eye! Before that the Sophomore was a tough cover for the game Hackensack team! Kennedy led most of the game but Hackensack tied the score at 31 with 2:54 in the 3rd on a follow up by Sophomore Tommy Smith! Kennedy went back ahead on a Gee”triple’ and a layup by Junior Jalaini Morris! Hackensack was led by Sophomore Edward Emedoh and Junior Prince Taylor with 12 points apiece!

 

 

                                                                    PASSAIC VALLEY  65        RAMAPO  56020

In probably the surprise of the night, Passaic Valley played it’s best game of the year as it jumped on Ramapo early and never were really in trouble throughout the game in their 65-56 impressive win! PV played without Senior Stefan Minic and was led by their backcourt! Sophomore Jihad Wright(left) and Junior Zach Mazalewski(right) were the catalyst for Passaic Valley! Wright scored 19 points with 5 assists and 8 steals, while Mazalewski added 15 points, 3 assists and 4 steals! Ramapo was led by Senior Matt Grassi with 24 points and Sophomore Matt Latka with 14 points!

 

 

 

 

                                             ST.JOSEPH REGIONAL  55         WAYNE VALLEY  42013

St. Joseph’s team has one good quality! They have very good depth and in a day when the starting five were having a subpar day St. Joe’s relied on it’s bench to get them a good win over Wayne Valley 55-42! Sophomore’s Devan Lawson and Nate Garvey and Senior C.J. Fitzpatrick were the main players to spearhead Joe’s victory! Lawson(left) scored 10 points, including 8 in the 2nd half, Fitzpatrick(middle) scored 9 points and Garvey(right) scored 6 points and ran the offense for the most part in the 2nd half! The Sophomore’s showed that they can handle things when things get a little tough and Fitzpatrick is a tough player who has been getting it done for St. Joe’s the entire season! senior Quai Jefferson also scored 10 points for St. Joseph! Junior Kyle Greve led Wayne Valley with 13 points and Sophomore Nick Giuliano added 12 points!

 

 

 

                                   PARAMUS CATHOLIC   75                  WEST MILFORD   73016015

Senior Kareem Coston(left) and Senior Marcus Dickerson(right) each scored 25 points and Paramus Catholic held off a furious rally to defeat West Milford 75-73! P.C. took a 53-40 lead into the 4th quarter when West Milford made it’s run, cutting the lead to 73-71 on a free throw from Senior Dillon Forsythe017! Senior Luke Basket tied the game at 73 on a bucket, but Coston went coast to coast and found Senior Joe DiBlasio with what proved to be the game winning shot! West Milford’s desperation “triple” fell off to end the game! Paramus Catholic also got a strong all around game from football star Jabrill Peppers(left) as he scored 8 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 4 steals! Basket scored 28 points to lead West Milford and Junior Tom Pegel added 20!

 

 

 

 

                                                                                              PASCACK HILLS   70               PASSAIC   57019

Senior Rob Tonelli scored  19 points and Senior Gavin Murphy and Sophomore Evan Schumer each scored 13 points as Pascack Hills defeated Passaic 70-57! Hills had contributions from numerous players on the offensive end and on the defensive end was led by Junior Zach Bernstein who had 9 steals in the contest as he was all around the basketball! Passaic was led by 6’6 Freshman Jamir Thomas with 12 points!

 

 

 

 

                                                                           LAKELAND  49    FORT LEE  37011

Lakeland started the day off with a 49-37 win over Fort Lee as Sophomore Jake Catalioto(right) scored 18 points and 6’8 Senior Petko Ljusic added 12 points! Ahead 32-31 to begin the 4th quarter, Lakeland outscored Fort Lee 17 to 6 in the final stanza! Jordan Goris led Fort Lee with 15 points! Senior Dashawn Washington added 11 points for Fort Lee!
