Usually, in big basketball games its never the guys you expect that propels a team to a win,but rather the role players who come up big. That was the case in Don Bosco Prep’s 73-58 win against a game Hackensack Highschool team. A.J. Lorusso and Brandon Beckford each scored 16 points to compensate for a tough but hobbled Kyle Smythe who scored 8 points, but was not his usual athletic self. Beckford scored on an assortment of drives and putbacks while Lorusso hit big shot after big shot throughout the game to help out Georgio Milligan, who has a natural ability to step up in big games. Milligan was a stud as he led D.B.P. with a game high 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 dimes and showed that their are alot of college coaches sleeping on this kid. Don Bosco Prep did a great job of holding down Hackensack star Keon Williams (14pts,12rebs) by double teaming him in the post and guard Ricky Carroll(14pts,2dimes,3stls)by playing him tight whenever he didn’t have the ball and extending him on the perimeter. The end result is Don Bosco Prep becoming the first team since 1952-54(Hackensack h.s.) to win three straight Bergen County Jamboree championships.
