St.Peters Prep, Jersey City, N.J……… They may not be #1 in Hudson County, that title would go to St.Anthony, but Hudson Catholic made a strong case for being a solid #2 and a true top team in the State in beating St. Peters Prep 59-43 in a hostile and enthusiastic environment! The Hawks got contributions from a number of players, led by their Junior’s Mike Young, Kavon Stewart and Reggie Cameron! Young(left) in particular, was a man amongst boys at points of the game! He finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocked shots and excited the crowd with a few power dunks! Stewart(right) was the best guard on the court scoring 13 points with 11 assists and Cameron(center) contributed 13 points and 11 boards! Senior Grant Ellis, the Iona commit made his presence felt scoring 7 points and grabbing 6 rebounds! He also made a crucial “triple” in the contest! St.Peters Prep had a 15-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, but two buckets by Young and a”triple” by Cameron gave Hudson the lead in the 2nd quarter and they never relinguished it! Prep cut the lead to 7 in the 4th quarter but a Kavon Stewart layup plus the foul and another one from Freshman Nassir Barrino upped the lead to double digits! Prep played hard and did not give up as they got good performances from Senior Tyrone O’Garro(13pts,6rebs), Junior Sean Cummings(10pts) and Junior Trevis Wyche(10pts,5asts)!
