Paterson Charter, Paterson, NJ…. In the Playaz sponsored Jingles Bell Jubilee Holiday Tournament Paterson Eastside and Hudson Catholic reached the finals with W’s, while DePaul and Newwark Tech live to play another day!

                                                                    PATERSON EASTSIDE  64     TEANECK  62   OT.

 

Freshman Nhazir Smith(right) made a tough layup and a free throw down the stretch to lift Eastside to a 64-62 overti012me win over Teaneck! Smith’s heroics came after Junior Ceasar DeJesus had put Teaneck up 62-60. Junior Shakur Juiston(left) led Eastside with 18 points and 13 rebounds, Junior Asem Johnson scored 16 points, Senior Ahmad Dauda added 12 points and 7 rebounds and Junior Aaryn Abrams chipped in 11! Teaneck which was the Jingle Bells champ for the last three years fought valiantly to maintain it’s title led by Senior Corrie Brown with 17 points and 4 steals. DeJesus scored 14 points with 12 rebounds, Senior Lavrone Green-Reels scored 14 points and Freshman Leondre Washington added 12 points. The game ended in regulation as both Eastside and Teaneck had opportunities to win the game at the end but each missed layups that could have won the contest!

    Junior Nassir Barrino(right) two free throws and layup and tremendous defense on Gill St. Bernard stud Sophomore Tyus Battle on Gill’s last possession led Hudson Catholic into the championship game against Eastside! Barrino finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Senior J.R. Lynch added 12 points. Battle had to work for his 15 points as Sophomore Marion Williams who scored 10 points was given the duty of defending Battle and doing a good job until fouling out. Battle also grabbed 11 rebounds! Junior JM Mea also scored 15 points for Gill St. Bernard. Junior Sammy Friday was a presence for Hudson Catholic with 7 points and 7 rebounds!

008Senior Tyree Sykes(right) scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Freshman R.J. Coles(left) dished out 12 dimes with 6 steals to lead Newark Tech to a 79-58 victory over Hackensack! Sophomore Mustafa Lawrence added 12 points, as did Junior Jordan Zagadou! Senior Philip Hammond led Hackensack with 21 points and Freshman Ahmed Bailey added 14 points ! Newark Tech will face DePaul in the 5th place game Sunday!

Senior Juwuan Carter(right) scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Freshman Isaiah Robinson(left) scored 14 points wit009h 8 rebounds to lead DePaul to 59-51 win over Passaic! Senior Devon Shuster chipped in 10 points for DePaul as theytrailed most of the contest and finally took the lead for good on a rebound putback by Carter that resulted in a three point play to make it 51-48! Passaic was led by Senior Stephon Foster with 12 points and Senior Ramadan Barker who grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 8 points
