MEL HENDERSON MEMORIAL SHOWCASE: NOTRE DAME, DON BOSCO PREP, ST. JOSEPH, DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD, HACKENSACK AND HUN SCHOOL WIN!

016Hackensack H.S,N.J…… The 2nd Annual Mel Henderson Memorial Showcase was six games highlighted by the Showcase game between Bergen Catholic and Notre Dame of Connecticut! Notre Dame Prep won on a late shot! Don Bosco Prep, St. Joseph, Dwight-Englewood, Hackensack and The Hun School all came away with wins!

 

                                                           NOTRE DAME (CT.)  70       BERGEN CATHOLIC  69015

Georgetown commit Tremont Waters showed why he is one of the Top Players in the 2017 class as he put on a dazzling performance and capped it with the game winning “triple” with 5 seconds in the contest to lead his squad to a 70-69 win over Bergen Catholic! The Rivals #36 ranked Waters scored 33 points and dished out 6 assists! Bergen Catholic had taken the lead on a “triple” from Sophomore Doug Edert with 46.7 seconds left to take a 69-67 lead! The game was delayed with 1:34 left in the due to a fire alarm and resumed about 15 minutes later as their had to be an evacuation! Columbia commit Gabe Stefanini led BC with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Fairfield commit Taj Benning added 16 points and 6 assists! Bergen Catholic Freshman bigman Matt Zona scored 11 points and pulled down 17 rebounds! Junior Tim Dawson scored 11 points and Sophomore Conor Raines added 10 points for Notre Dame! Waters and Benning were chosen Players of the Game!

 

 

                                                   HACKENSACK  73        EAST ORANGE  58014

Junior Atiba Taylor scored 27 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had 4 steals to lead Hackensack to a 73-58 win over East Orange! Hackensack outscored East Orange 21-13 in the 3rd quarter to expand a 29-27 halftime lead to 50-40 to end the 3rd! They maintained that margin the rest of the game! Senior Mykel Swanston scored 12 points for the Comets! Sophomore Supreme Cook led East Orange with 28 points and 13 rebounds! Taylor(left) and Cook were chosen Players of the Game!

 

 

 

                                        DON BOSCO PREP  89     RANDOLPH  50012

Junior Marcellus Earlington score 26 points as 11 Don Bosco Prep players scored on their way to a convincing 89-50 win over Randolph! Junior Matt Herasme scored 15 points for Don Bosco Prep! Prep took a 59-30 halftime lead and never looked back! Senior Luke Nathan lead Randolph with 16 points and Senior Chris Cheng added 11! Earlington(left) and Nathan were chosen Players of the Game!

 

 

 

                                                              011ST.JOSEPH (MONT.)  63    PATERSON EASTSIDE  50

Senior Chauncey Hawkins went 10 for 11 from the free throw line and scored 18 points and dished out 6 assists to lead St.Joe’s to a 63-50 win over Paterson Eastside! Senior Joe Radi scored 15 points and pulled down 7 rebounds and Senior Isaac Hippolyte scored 15 points for St.Joe’s! Junior Ta’wan Grier led Eastside with 21 points and Junior Lamar Johnson added 21 points for Eastside! Hawkins and Grier were chosen Players of the Game!

 

 

 

                              DWIGHT-ENGLEWOOD  61     ST.PETERS PREP  50009

Sophomore Tyson Etienne scored 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and had 3 steals and Sophomore Jordan McKoy added 16 points to lead Dwight-Englewood to a 61-50 win over St.Peters Prep! Dwight-Englewood played an inspiring game as they took advantage of getting into the lane and finishing or kicking out for open looks! McKoy and Etienne free throws late held Prep off! Senior Jorge Portorreal, Junior Shayne Simon and Senior Ryan Omslaer all finished with 9 points! Portorreal and Etienne(right) were chosen Players of the Game!

 

 

 

                                       THE HUN SCHOOL   78    MASTERS SCHOOL  64013

Brown University commit Desmond Cambridge scored 17 points and Junior Lorenzo Spinazzi added 15 points to lead the Hun School to a 78-64 win over The Masters School! The Hun School took control of the game in the 3rd quarter, ending the stanza with a 58-39 lead! Senior Rodney Johnson Jr. led Masters School with 14 points! Cambridge and Johnson(right) were chosen Players of the Game!
