NORTH 1 GROUP 4 SECTIONAL”CHIP”: EASTSIDE BEATS EAST ORANGE IN O.T. 74-64!

006East Orange Campus,East Orange,N.J….. With the season looking to be over, Eastside pulled off an improbable comeback, managed to tie the score late and pull off a big time win in overtime for a 74-64 victory over East Orange! Eastside controlled the game for much of the 1st half as Senior Asem Johnson scored 11 points and Senior Shakur Juiston added 7 to give the008m a 26-22 lead! It could have been more, but for the shooting of East Orange Junior Jordan Taylor who scored all 14 of his points in the stanza! East Orange took control in the 3rd quarter as with 4:31 left in the 3rd Eastside’s star Shakur Juiston picked up his fourth foul! East Orange took full advantage behind the shooting of Senior Denzel Banks to take a 41-36 lead heading into the 4th quarter! Juiston returned and the Ghost’s made a run of their own and took the lead 47-45 on a Asem Johnson dunk! Banks tied the game with a pull up jumper! The back and forth game came to a head when with the score 56-54 East Orange on two free throws by Junior Aaron Clark, Eastside  missed a shot and East Orange was fouled with 21.8 left East Orange went to the line with a chance to clinch the game! Both shots were missed which gave Senior Aaryn Abrams the opportunity to tie the score on a driving layup with 7 seconds left to send the game into overtime! With Juiston fouled out, Johnson was the catalyst for Eastside as they outscored East Orange 18-8 in the extra stanza! Johnson scored 7 points in the overtime and Eastside clinched it behind the free throw shooting of Abrams and Sophomore Nhazir Smith! Johnson finished with 24 points, Abrams scored 14 points, Juiston added 12 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and blocked 3 shots and Smith chipped in with 10 points! Kudos have to go to Junior Charles Powell, Senior Marquel Sheffield and Junior Terrel Griffin as they all made crucial plays at some point late in the contest for Eastside! Banks led East Orange with 17 points, Taylor had the 14 and Junior Marquise Taylor added 12! Eastside will now face Linden Wednesday at The Dunn Center in Elizabeth
