004Wayne,N.J…. The Passaic County Tournament looked like it might have a different result, but in the end old rivals Eastside and Kennedy will meet once again for the Passaic County Championship!

                                                                                      KENNEDY  53     WAYNE VALLEY  47

The stage was set for an upset as the games were moved from Kennedy to Wayne Valley and Kennedy was without it’s second leading scorer as Jevon Rawls was suspended due to an ejection the game before! So Wayne Valley looked like it had every opportunity to pull it off! But nobody told Junior Alphonso Gee! The Kennedy star played perhaps his most efficient game of the season as he answered every run Wayne Valley tried and stayed on attack mode throughout as he finished a hard fought game with 27 points! Wayne Valley did not take advantage of being at home as they shot 1-21 from the three line and blew every opportunity to take a lead! Gee who normally settles for jump shots made it a point to attack the rim as his drives to the basket were too much for Valley to handle! Kennedy also got a workman like effort from their miniature bigmen as Junior Brian Patterson scored 7 points, but more importantly grabbed 11 rebounds and Junior Jamier Taylor also was tough on the boards with 7 rebounds and a big block late in the contest! Wayne Valley was led by Senior Kyle Greve with 16 points and Junior Nick Goodwin with 12 points and 14 rebounds!

West Milford let Eastside know in order to win this contest the Ghosts would have to bring their A game! Well, the Shakur Juiston led Ghost did just that as they methodically chased down West Milford to take a 34-30 halftime lead and pushed it to a comfortable 13-14 point lead throughout! Senior Shakur Juiston(right) scored 23 points and005 pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Eastside! Senior Asem Johnson scored 13 points and Sophomore Nhazir Smith and Senior Aaryn Abrams each chipped in 11 points! Smith(left) also had a great floor game as he dished out 9 assists and on the defensive end had 7 steals! Senior Tom Pegel led West Milford with 20 points, while Senior Noah Basket scored 15 points and dropped 7 dimes! Senior Mike Otero finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds for West Milford! Eastside and Kennedy will meet next Saturday 12pm at Wayne Valley for the title!
