005Elmwood Park,NJ….Gardenstatehoops Slept!!! When watching Elmwood Park last year their main guys were Senior’s Nick Smith and Andre Frasier! They also had a Junior Forward on the squad who at the time was 6’2 and skinny and was a role player! Well, Senior Ve’Shawn Polite has grown up! Now standing 6’5 and about 210 lbs Polite(pictured) has been making alot of noise this season! After scoring 47 points in his last contest against WoodRidge and averaging 36 a game in his last four games, he could not be overlooked anymore! Tonight, Elmwood Park hosted Boonton and Polite again put on a show! The Senior went for 43 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and 4 steals to help Elmwood Park overcome a 54-51 deficit to end the 3rd quarter and pull away 79-69! What was impressive about his point total is that he didn’t shoot a three making 15 two point field goals and going 13 for 17 from the foulline! He also displayed tremendous athleticsm in the form of a couple high flying dunks! Senior Jovan Koskoski added 16 points for Elmwood Park! Boonton battled and scrapped the entire game and never gave up! They especially got strong play from their guards! Junior Sammy Asani scored 22 points, including 4″triples” to lead Boonton! Chris Davonzo finished with 17 points and Hazez Rios added 15 for Boonton! The Elmwood Park win boosted their season record to 7-2! Gardenstatehoops won’t sleep again!!
