PUBLIC VS PRIVATE: HAWTHORNE CHRISTIAN, HACKENSACK, WEST MILFORD AND RAMAPO WIN!

 Englewood, NJ…….. The Dwight Morrow Public vs Private Showcase ran by Dwight Morrow’s Coach Ozzie Osbourne took place today and will continue tomorrow! In today’s contests Hawthorne Christian, Hackensack, West Milford and Ramapo a012ll came away winners!

 

 

                                                                    HAWTHORNE CHRISTIAN  58       WOOD RIDGE  31

This game was all Senior Alex Thomas(left with Coach Osbourne) game as Hawthorne Christian took a 29-17 halftime lead behind Thomas’s 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks at the end of the stanza! The 2nd half was more of the same as he finished with 23 points,14 rebounds and 6 blocks before sitting down for most of the 4th in a 58-31 final! Senior A.J. Newell chipped in 12 points and Senior Jake Hart had 7 points, 7 dimes and 5 steals! WoodRidge was led by Senior Damian Colon(right) with 7 points!

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                     HACKENSACK  44   SADDLE RIVER DAY   42015

Senior Philip Hammond(right) scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to help Hackensack hold on as they defeated Saddle River Day 44-42! Their wasn’t much scoring in the 4th quarter as Saddle River Day held a 10-6 scoring edge but the final bucket from Hammond was the difference! Senior Chris Cosgrove(left) led Saddle River Day with 17 points and Senior Greg King added 10! Freshman Ahmed Bailey scored 7 points and Sophomore Edward Emedoh pulled down 8 rebounds!

 

 

 

 

 

                                            WEST MILFORD  87          ST. MARY’S(RUTHERFORD)  66017

Tonight was the night for Senior Luke Basket(pictured left)! With 4:58 in the 3rd quarter and the up and down game still close Basket hit a jumper to tie the game at 49! In the process the 5’11 guard sco018red his 1,000th point for his career and ignited a scoring barrage for West Milford as they went on to win 87-66 over St. Mary’s! Basket scored 31 points, including 7 “triples” as he caught fire in the 2nd half! Junior Mike Otero made 4″triples” on his way to scoring 21 points and Junior Noah Basket scored 12 points and dished out 9 assists for West Milford! St. Mary’s stayed close but eventually ran out of gas! Senior Keith Bacote(left with Dwight Morrow Coach Ozzie Osbourne and Basket)) led St. Mary’s with 26 points and Junior Dino Bradaric scored 21 points with 8 rebounds!

 

 

 

                                                               020RAMAPO   62            MONSIGNOR SCANLON (NY)  50

Senior Matt Grassi(right) led Ramapo with 17 points, Sophomore Matt Latka had 14 points and Senior Tommy Gordon scored 12 of Ramapo’s last 14 points as they beat Monsignor Scanlon of NY  62-50! Ramapo led by a small margin for most of the game but began to pill away in the 4th as Gordon constantly got layups on fastbreaks! Senior Mike Gostkowski was the distributor of most of those buckets as he finished with 7 assists! Scanlon was led by 6’10 Junior Jonathan Nwankwo(left) with 14 points and 13 rebounds!
