SANOGO’S FREE THROW PUTS NEWARK EASTSIDE IN T.O.C. TITLE GAME!

002Monmouth University,NJ…….Seton Hall commit Ismael Sanogo’s free throw with 1.6 seconds left in the game gave Newark Eastside a 46-45 win over Roselle Catholic to reach the Tournament  Of Champions final! Newark Eastside’s defense in the 4th quarter gave themselves a chance to pull it off as they held Roselle Catholic to 6 points in the quarter! Roselle Catholic had a 39-32 lead at the end of the 3rd! Newark Eastside then held Roselle Catholic to two points in the first 4:19 of the 4th as they outscored Roselle Catholic 9-2 to tie the game at 43! Sophomore Matt Bullock put Roselle Catholic ahead on a layup 45-43 with 2:38 to play, but with 2:16 left Roselle Catholic’s star bigman 6’8 Chris Silva! After missed free throws by both teams, Junior Ahmad Harrison sunk two free throws with 1:05 left to tie the game! After Roselle Catholic missed with 20 seconds left it set the stage for Sanogo (being hugged by teamates)who got fouled on a shot attempt went to the line where he made the first and missed the second! Roselle Catholic’s desperation heave was off and Newark Eastside was in the “Chip”! Sanogo finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Senior Akbar Hoffman led the scoring with 13 points for Newark Eastside! Credit also has to go to Senior Jamar Gilbert who was the main defender on Roselle Catholic’s star Isaiah Briscoe who was held to 6 points in the contest! Bullock finshed with 14 points and Sophomore Asante Gist added 13 for Roselle Catholic! Newark Eastside’s win gives them 30 for the year, the most they have ever had in a season!
