005Paterson,N.J…. With trying times in the city of  Paterson, the Team Jesus Basketball Tournament was just what the City needed! The 5th annual event ran by Pastor William H. Cash at the Tyrone Collins Memorial Park brought about a spirit of comaraderie and brotherhood as well as a little worshipping! To go with some good hard nosed basketball from some of the finest players to come out of Paterson and neighboring towns! Veteran NBA player Tim Thomas led the plethora of talent that came across this weekend! He made an appearance as one of the elder statesman along with former Iowa St. star Michael Nurse, but the amount of young talent in this event was overwhelming! Some of the players featured in these contests were Pittsburgh graduate Travon Woodall, U.S.C. graduate Jio Fontaine, Seton Hall graduates Jordan Theodore and Fuquan Edwin, Louisiana-Monroe grad Jayon James, Fordham grad Chris Gaston and William Paterson grad Javae Gilchrist! Not to mention College players like Reggie Cameron (Georgetown), Kavon Stewart (Robert Morris), Dallas Anglin (So. Miss), DeAndre Noble-Haywood (Delaware St.), Sandy Burgos (William Paterson) and Highschool stars such as Shakur Juiston, Asem Johnson(Eastside) and Alphonso Gee(Kennedy)! There were more names to mention as playground legends also participated, but the main theme is it brought the city to a peaceful standstill as people from all over town came to embrace and enjoy high level and high quality basketball! Pastor Cash and his congregation should be commended on a job well done and these athletes should recognize that for a couple days they lifted the spirits of a City!!!
