FEATURES: Despite the loss Eastern Christian Senior Matt Van Grouw played very well against Passaic Valley scoring 20 points and proving to be a tough matchup for P.V. Wood Ridge Senior Gary Whritenour(right) who is known for his three point shooting turned assist man and literally dished out 16 dimes! Paramus Catholic Junior Jalen Henriquez scored all 12 of his points in the 1st half against Bergen Catholic! Marquez and DePaul saw some light as Wise(left) played his first game with his new school after transferring from Kennedy H.S.and showed how effective he will be making the play of the night by grabbing a rebound and taking it coast to coast for a thunderous dunk!!

Kennedy H.S., Paterson, N.J……. In games played in the Wednesday’s Playaz sponsored Fall Ball League St. Benedicts rolled over Kennedy 63-36 as Pittsburgh commit Mike Young scored 14 points and Syracuse commit Tyler Ennis added 11! Teaneck outlasted Gill St. Bernard 63-60 as Joel Hernandez(right) scored 24 points and Shakir Lindsey scored 22! Hudson Catholic beat a Jermaine Lawrence less Pope John(Sparta) 72-56 as four people scored in double figures led by Nassir Barrino’s 18! St. Anthony beat Newark Eastside 36-33 in sudden death, win by two overtime as Aaron Ariri made a free throw and Oregon State commit Hallice Cooke finished the game with a layup!

FEATURE: The upperclassman players did well in the games, but the night belonged to Pope John Freshman Bryce Aiken and Freshman Tyus Battle of Gill St.Bernards! Aiken(in blue) scored 30 points in the game against Hudson Catholic and gave them problems throughout! Battle(in white) showed why he is considered the top freshman in the State against Teaneck! He scored 17 points and made crucial buckets late in the contest! Future is very bright for both young players! Ariri comes to St. Anthony straight out of Canada! The 6’9 player is very agile around the basket, and a very good finisher! St. Benedicts looks loaded, showing it’s depth as Isaiah Briscoe and Isaiah Watkins each sat out the contest and Benedicts didnt’t seem to miss a beat! Gill St. Bernards Austin Colbert looked active tonight scoring 14 points and running the floor well! He is close to making his decision with the front runners looking to be Vanderbilt and Miami!

MONDAY FALLBALL RESULTS: Bergen Catholic,Wood Ridge,Elmwood Park and Paramus Catholic Win!

Written by Cameron on . Posted in Garden State Hoops

Kennedy H.S.,Paterson,N.J……..In the Playaz sponsored Fallball League, Bergen Catholic beat Christ The King(Newark) 50-27 as Junior Nadi Beciri had 11 in a well balanced scoring attack! Elmwood Park upended Passaic Valley 50-41 behind Senior Jahmad Green’s 17, Senior Nick Smith’s 16 and Senior Andre Frazier’s 11, Paramus Catholic won 39-26 over Eastern Christian behind Senior Kyle Menard’s 12 points and Wood Ridge won easily over a DePaul team that’s playing with only one Varsity player due to injuries and Football 49-24!

FEATURES: Elmwood Park looks like they will be a fun team to watch this year if they play the way they have in the League! They get out on the break and Green, Smith and Frazier are all good finishers! Wood Ridge are still a big three point shooting team led by Gary Whritenour and Mike Gibney! They made 5 threes between them in their win over DePaul! DePaul Senior Josh Marquez has had to take things into his own hands due to the lack of experience his teammates have! He scored 10 of their 24 and also handed out a couple of assists! He shouldn’t worry as DePaul should be very strong this season! Junior Jalen Henriquez helped give Menard some help in their victory scoring in double figure!Junior Nadi Beciri(pictured) had a good game down low for Bergen Catholic in their win as he scored 11 points and was strong under the boards! Interested to see more of B.C.’s 6’8 Junior Matej Jurcevic from Croatia! Could be a good addition! Christ The King and Eastern Christian also played better tonight!
