WEDNESDAY FALLBALL RESULTS: St.Anthony, Hudson Catholic, Kennedy And St. Benedicts Win!!

Kennedy H.S., Paterson,N.J….. In the Playaz sponsored Wednesday Fallball League, St. Anthony edged Teaneck 52-49 as Senior Aaron Ariri scored 14 points and overcome Teaneck Senior Joel Hernandez who scored 20 points in the game! Hudson Catholic started the game slowly, falling behind 14-0 to Newark Eastside to start the game but regrouping to win 53-42! Georgetown commit Reggie Cameron and Robert Morris commit Kavon Stewart combined for 32 points for Hudson Catholic! St. Benedicts beat Gill St. Bernard 75-61 as Isaiah Briscoe(right) made his Fallball debut by scoring 22 points! Gill St. Bernards Northwestern commit Jaren Sina finished with 26 points! Kennedy got it’s first win by defeating Pope John 51-31! Freshman Alfonso Gee led the Knights with 24 points! Pope John played without Senior sensation Jermaine Lawrence for the second straight week!

 

 

 

FEATURES: With the talent of Freshman’s Bryce Aiken(Pope John) and Tyus Battle(Gill St. Bernard) on display Gee made it a point not to forget him! the 5’10 point played an inspired game to lead his young squad to the win! Benedicts showed a lot of talent with Briscoe back as Syracuse commit Tyler Ennis scored 17 and Pittsburgh commit Mike Young added 18 to give them a triple threat! Battle again showed his talent scoring 18 points in their loss! Newark Eastside’s Akbar Hoffman played well scoring 13 points as Newark Eastside will be a very good team this year! Hudson Catholic Senior Kyle McGleggan had the play of the night throwing down a dunk over a defender on a fastbreak!!

REGGIE CAMERON: IT”S GEORGETOWN!!!!!

  Hudson Catholic and Playaz Basketball Club 6’7 wing Reggie Cameron has committed to Georgetown University! He chose the Hoya’s over an impressive list of North Carolina, North Carolina St.,Seton Hall, UConn, Miami and Michigan! Cameron said that he was impressed by the interest that Georgetown gave, particularly Coach John Thompson III and assistant Coach Kevin Broadus! He felt it was far enough away, but not too far, has great academics and loved the D.C. area which he got to see in his official visit! But more importantly, the team has a chance to win! Cameron said” I am humbled by the teams that showed interest in me and I want to thank each one for taking the time to recruit me. This was not an easy decision”!  Hudson Catholic Coach Nick Mariniello said” I am so proud of Reggie and his ability to make a great decision, It’s a credit to his family that they have raised a kid who can process things so intelligently. He has shown tremendous character throughout the process and is a proven winner on the court and off”! His Playaz Basketball Director Jim Salmon said” Georgetown’s style of play is ideal for Reggie to excel. Their academic reputation is second to none and fits the whole person. We expect great things out of Reg! He’s been a true Playa for real his entire life and like most other decisions he has made this is a great one”! Reggie had a long list of people to thank that helped him get to this stage of his athletic and academic career! Cameron said” First, I would like to thank my Dad for everything that he has done for me. He has prepared me as good as any parent could for this moment. he has gave me the tools to succeed and it’s up to me what I do with them. I’d like to thank my Mother June, my Uncle Orlando along with my whole extended Cameron and Drysdale family. Also my teammates at Paterson Catholic along with Hudson Catholic. My coaches at Hudson Catholic Nick Mariniello, Ayton Branch, Kenny P.,Sean Fitzgerald and Jamie Gordon. Lastly I’d like to thank my brothers Kavon, Kyle Anderson Jr., DeAndre, Mikey and Billy Garrett Jr,#HoyaSaxa! KAVON STEWART: IT’S ROBERT MORRIS!!!!!!

Hudson Catholic and Playaz Basketball Club point guard Kavon Stewart has chose his school and it’s Robert Morris! Kavon picked the N.E.C. school over FIU,Hofstra,Quinnipiac and UMass! Coach Andrew Toole is getting a top notch point guard who can get in the lane against anyone and may be the fastest player baseline to baseline in the State!! Hudson Catholic Coach Nick Mariniello said” He is really happy for Kavon and the unbelievable job he has done, not only as a highschool player but also academically. Kavon was very happy and is going to a place where he can contribute right away”! His Playaz AAU Director Jim Salmon said” K has played with us his entire travel team career and is a fixture for the class of 2013. We are all really proud of him and excited for the opportunity he’s about to get. Coach Andy Toole recruited him harder than anyone else and proved that it’s a place where he will be accepted and expected to be a major part of the program”!  Kavon has known Coach Toole since 7th grade when he coached him in a Hoop Group Camp and was very comfortable with him! He thanked a number of people for helping him get this far. Among them were the entire Playaz Club Organization, Jim Salmon, Jamal Slappy, Coach Nick, Coach Aton, Coach Kenny, Coach Reggie, Coach Kyle, The Cameron family, his Hudson Catholic teammates, his boys Reggie, DeAndre, Isaac and Jeffrey, Tashmare, Jamod, his brother Travon, Conrad Jones and especially his Aunt Bernita! On a personal note, Kavon has done a great job of persevering and overcoming and Hoop Journal could not be prouder of a person! Hoop Journal wishes nothing but the best for Kavon in the Future!
